Nancy Manahan was born in southern Minnesota in 1946. She earned her B.A. in English in 1969 from the University of Minnesota and her M.A. from the University of Illinois. She taught in Africa and California before returning to Minnesota to teach English at Rochester Community College and Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
